In 1998 I was diagnosed with Astrocytoma of the spinal cord (cancer of the spine). I was told that I would not walk or dress myself again. Despite the negative report I began to call on the name of Jesus. I knew that it was only going to be by God’s grace and His mercy that I would make it through this journey and chemotherapy. After the treatment I went into remission! I’m so glad that when doctors were saying no God was saying yes!

However, just as the Philistines kept attacking the children of Israel, my body kept being challenged with ailments. In 2006 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I could not move my leg without the assistance of someone; I couldn’t feel or move my leg. Though tempted to feel sad for myself my faith in God, prayers by the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church family, and encouraging words and moving sermons by my pastor, Rev. Scott, III, reminded me to put my trust and hope in the Lord. Instead of having a pity party I recited Psalm 121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills from where my help comes and Psalm 100 give thanks unto the Lord. Just as Kirk Franklin’s song says He’ll take the pain away, that is what God did for me!

On June 14, 2007, I felt pain in my leg. I began to thank God that I could feel my leg which I have not felt in the past year. I called my family and friends to share with them what God did for me. I am sharing my testimony to encourage others to not give up, but to P.U.S.H.-pray until sometime happens, and to hold on to your faith in God. I currently use a wheelchair to get around, but I know that this too is only temporary. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. I’ve been running for Jesus a mighty long time and I’m not tired yet. Hold on my brothers and sisters to your faith in Christ and stand firm on His Word. Don’t let anything turn you around.
